Cloudflare is a website security services provider that has been operating in the IT sector since 2010. The company specializes in distributed denial of service or DDoS attack detection and prevention. The management of Cloudflare recently shared the plans to set up an R&D unit for internet improvement protocols with the help of the Ethereum network.

The developers from Cloudflare claimed that the main object of the project is to ensure the safety, security, and increasing agility of the core Ethereum infrastructure. At the same time, the R&D conductors are trying to make Ethereum an energy-efficient network like several other cryptocurrency networks. The Cloudflare project is starting at a time when the Ethereum network is planning to make a transition from PoW to the PoS model.

Cloudflare cybersecurity organization is planning to issue full-stake Ethereum node validators over the upcoming months. The firm is working on increasing the energy conservation, consistency, and agility capacity of the network with the PoS model. Cloudflare plans to contribute to matters like environmental conversation and allow blockchain users to gain access to an improved internet.

Cloudflare developers also explained that the future of Web3 technology is going to be backed heavily by the PoS network model. Furthermore, the R&D members suggested that Ethereum is going to be at the forefront of Web3 expansion and among the top projects under development at Cloudflare. The development team also claimed that it is planning to deliver results before the end of Q3 or Q4.

Ethereum Node Experiment

Cloudflare developers recently updated the company blog that an Ethereum node test project is soon going to go live in the upcoming months. The firm further noted that the first node sample would serve as a testing ground backing research and energy efficiency, among other things.  Ethereum Foundation statistics estimate that the network needs to utilize 2.6 megawatts of electrical energy to keep operating after its PoS transition.

In comparison to the PoW model, this type of energy usage is 99.5% lesser on a post-merger basis for the organizations. The cyber security organization has not shared any plans for additional or parallel alternatives for Web3-related applications and protocols thus far. The company claims that it is planning to contribute to the field of cryptography and build upgraded internet infrastructure in the future.
